Free and metered street parking throughout downtown, plus three lots within two blocks of Main Street.

  • Gloucester House Lot & I4C2 overflow parking: $5/day, largest lots

  • Main Street meters: 50¢/hr, 2-hour limit

  • Rogers Street & Harbor Loop meters: 50¢/hr all day

  • St. Peter's Square municipal lot: Free

  • Sunday street parking district-wide: Free

MBTA Commuter Rail

The MBTA Newburyport/Rockport Line runs from Boston's North Station directly to downtown Gloucester — about an hour.

  • Get off at Gloucester Station (Railroad Ave)

  • 10-minute walk to district center

  • Runs every 1–2 hours. Please refer to the MBTA schedule for exact times.

  • Bikes allowed off-peak

Bus & Water Shuttle

Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) operates local bus routes throughout Gloucester and neighboring towns.

  • CATA Route 1 connects rail station to downtown
