A new kind of party
On Saturday May 2, 2026 the Harbortown Cultural District presented From the Deep: A Downtown Gloucester Arts Party for the first time.
Over 500 people came downtown to participate in over 30 free cultural offerings presented by 45 different artists and cultural organizations across the district.

From the Deep returns
Save the Date for the return of From the Deep: A Downtown Gloucester Arts Party on Saturday, November 7 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Artists in the city and beyond are invited to propose events, public art displays, and community programs that celebrate the funky grit of Gloucester. The Harbortown Cultural District has set aside $4,000 to fund free cultural programs within the walkable downtown district during the event. Applications are due by October, 1, 2026.

Details:

Projects will be funded for between $100 - $1,000. No matching funds are required.

Funds must be used to directly support the creation of artwork. Eligible expenses include: artist time, supplies / materials, partners / collaborators, venue, etc. Ineligible funds include: food, advertising, transport, etc.

Preference will be given to applicants with a connection to Gloucester

Projects must be located in the Harbortown Cultural District during the event on November 7. They do not have to be located at any specific cultural organization. To see the outlines of the district, view the map here.

Projects will be evaluated based on connection to Gloucester, feasibility, originality, and amplification of the Harbortown Cultural District.

Applicants in all media will be considered

Projects must last for at least 1 hour and ongoing during the scheduled time.

Project funds will be distributed after the completion of the project and can take 1-2 months to be processed.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and residents of the US.
